Wedding aftermath

Jesus and I got married this past Saturday. It is kind of hitting me now that it’s all over, the wedding planning I mean. I’ve been stockpiling decorations and favors in my guest room for months now. Up until now I’ve spent my evenings online ordering napkins and decorations and shopping for ideas and for accessories and planning planning planning. Now I’m sitting at home like….Hmmm….what do I do now? It’s all kind of a relief, no more stress, no more brainstorming, but it’s also kind of sad that the day passed by so quickly. I hardly had time to say hello and thank you to everyone. I barely tasted our food, but thanks to one of my bridemaids that forced me to sit down for a minute, I at least tried a few things! Anyway I just wanted to take a minute on my blog and tell everyone how truly thankful I am. It was a complete DIY wedding which I enjoyed. My mother was behind most all of the planning and I don’t know how she has been getting any sleep lately with all the stuff she has been doing. A lot of people put a lot of care and thought into everything and all came together to pull it off. I was surrounded by people I loved and cared about from start to finish, we were even married by a friend who surprised us with a few things during the ceremony, including some Spanish vows and having the crowd tell Jesus to “kiss his bride”. I couldn’t ask for anything better.

Bella was a little trouper the entire night and I also want to thank all those, especially my aunt and uncle and grandmother, who pitched in to take care of her before and after the ceremony so that Jesus and I had time to enjoy ourselves. The wedding put a big damper on my spending time with her and made me pretty emotional the next day as we were preparing to depart for our honeymoon. I felt as if I hadn’t seen her or spent quality time with her in days with all the last minute details and errands. After we dropped her off on Sunday at my mother’s house and came back to our house to load the car with our luggage I found myself crying in her bedroom. We came very, VERY close to just taking her on the honeymoon with us. In the end, we ended up going on our own because I figured I would regret the decision not to. Later that evening when we arrived at our destination and started taking pictures I realized we were out of room on our memory card on our camera and I started to look through the photos to see what I could delete. Pretty much ALL of the photos on that camera are of Bella and I found myself in tears again. Despite the fact that the photos are already saved on my computer (and a lot of them have also been printed as well) I could not bring myself to delete any of them. So we bought another memory card.

The honeymoon was indeed quite relaxing in our little cottage in the mountains. But I am also happy to be back home with my girl and to settle back into our every day life as the same little family we have always been….except that mommy and daddy can officially call each other “husband” and “wife”. :)
