My daughter likes watching YouTube videos but we have to watch her or she will find her way to something weird.
Most of the time we have to enter the search term for what is wanting to watch, except for the times that she ends up shouting at Siri, who definitely cannot understand most of the things a 3 and 1/2 year old has to say. For instance, the other day she told Siri she wanted to watch videos of “cats taking baths” and Siri interpreted that as “bats raking maps.” Anyway, so we type in what she is searching for, but then YouTube starts suggesting other videos based off what she is watching so that’s where we have to monitor it. Somehow she made her way from watching videos of white kittens to watching cats that had been taught to go to the bathroom in a toilet instead of a litter box. Some of them could even flush. Bella enjoyed that and thought that was really funny, but I’m looking forward to is seeing what Siri comes up with when Bella tells it she wants to watch “cats pooping in potties.” That should be an interesting conversation. I’m also hoping that she was so thrilled by this concept that she will take to training our adult cat, Kitty, and make him learn to use the toilet. That would be super.
Some of Bella’s favorite types of videos to watch are:
Strange channels that unwrap a whole bunch of prize eggs (Kinder Eggs) on camera. I thought that last one was incredibly strange but apparently they’re really popular videos and Bella gets really excited about them. Actually, I do, too now. We watch them together, like: ”OMG I WONDER WHAT IS IN THE NEXT ONE HE OPENS!!! I HOPE HE FINALLY GETS MIKE FROM MONSTERS, INC, HE HAS LIKE 16 OF SULLY!”
It’s an exciting life we lead. Truly.
